Spruce Bonsai (Picea) is a classic evergreen conifer, recognised for its short, stiff needles that give the tree a dense appearance and its aged, dark-fissured bark. While hardy and tolerant of cold, the Spruce is considered an intermediate to advanced subject because it is slow to back-bud, requires precise seasonal needle and bud pruning for ramification, and dislikes being repotted.
