About your : Japanese Holly (Ilex crenata)

A highly adaptable evergreen bonsai, cherished for its small, glossy, boxwood-like leaves and its ability to develop dense, refined foliage pads. Unlike its prickly European cousins, this species features smooth, oval foliage that responds exceptionally well to the "clip-and-grow" method, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced artists.  It back-buds prolifically on old wood, it allows for the creation of intricate, tiered structures and classic, aged silhouettes in a relatively short period.

In terms of care, the Japanese Holly is a thirsty and resilient tree that thrives in a bright, outdoor environment with protection from the harshest afternoon sun. It is essential to keep its root ball consistently moist, as it is notoriously sensitive to drying out; however, its vigorous root system also makes it a perfect candidate for frequent repotting and styling.
